New Jersey State Museum, Curator of Natural History Dr. Dana Ehret will discuss his research into the origin and evolution of great white sharks.
Dr. Ehret attended the University of Florida for graduate school where he studied the fossil record of sharks including great whites and 'Megalodon', the largest shark that ever lived. His work took him to the deserts of southern Peru where he collected fossils to unravel the mysteries of when and where great whites first appeared. Dr. Ehret will discuss his field work in Peru and the share information about the fossil record and paleoecology of white sharks. Dr. Ehret has appeared on the Discovery Channel's 'Shark Week' as well as programs on the Smithsonian Channel and PBS.
