Learn the legends and lore of the Pine Barrens with storyteller, Michelle Washington Wilson.
Learn the legends and lore of the Pine Barrens. The Pine Barrens is an enchanting and sometimes entrancing place to grow up, where many folks emigrated to and migrated through; and brought their cultures, stories, folklore, and traditions to the farms of New Jersey. Working in the fields and factories sprinkled through the Pines, people worked hand to hand and shoulder to shoulder carrying their customs and sharing tales of ghostly creatures, encapsulating them into local lore. Presenter, Michelle Washington Wilson, Storyteller, started working on Atlantic County Blueberry Farms at the age of ten. At the age of twelve, Michelle started writing these stories down and reciting legends of indescribable creatures and unforgettable characters brought to life through poetry and prose. This performance is part of the Ocean County Library's Neighbors Connecting Series of Programs and is sponsored by a grant from the OceanFirst Foundation and the Ocean County Library Foundation.
