Join us and celebrate Asian-American Pacific Islander Heritage Month by learning about pioneering Asian-American filmmaker, Esther Eng. Esther Eng was the first woman to direct Chinese-language films in America in the 1930's. She was a San Francisco native and open lesbian. Her films broke through the gender and racial boundaries at a time when most Chinese women did not have many opportunities in the film business.
