Approximately a million people visit New Jersey's Island Beach State Park every year.  

In addition to almost ten miles of pristine beaches untouched by modern development, a small community of shacks owned and constructed by fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts lay hidden among the natural dunes. 

At one time there were approximately one-hundred-nineteen shacks.  Some were only the size of a small garage while others were comfortable vacation homes.  With the exception of the "Judge's Shack" which was placed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places, they have been torn down.

These photographs share my experience and include shacks that are no longer standing and owners who are now deceased.

Opening Reception will be October 6: 5-7
