Featuring Providers from Children's Specialized Hospital

There are many types of medical providers and therapists who work with those affected by autism or other intellectual/developmental disabilities. Do you know who they are and what they do?

There are many types of medical providers and therapists who work with individuals affected by autism or other intellectual/developmental disabilities.  Neurologists, psychiatrists, developmental pediatricians, occupational therapists, and speech therapists are among the most well-known.  You may be familiar with these titles, but do you actually know what they do?  And did you know that there are other professionals, such as physiatrists, who also provide valuable services?

During this panel discussion, each professional will present an overview of their field.  You will learn how they work, the ways in which their service benefits the patient, and the intake process for new patients.  The panel will feature:

• Dr. Marykatharine Nutini, Children's Specialized Hospital Physiatrist

  Specialist in restorative movement and function for children and young adults with disabilities or injuries.

  Key credentials: Ignation Scholarship Recipient, Board Certified in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine, Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

• Rebecca Magno, Children's Specialized Hospital Registered Dietician

  Ensures children and young adults meet their appropriate nutrient needs. Helps manage patients with picky eating, overweight/obesity, failure to thrive, tube feeds, etc. 

  Key Credentials: Masters of Science, Registered Dietician

• Kelly Byrne, Children's Specialized Hospital Occupational Therapist

  Supports children, young adults and their families with varying needs and abilities, do the things they love to do or need to do in their everyday life to their greatest potential. 

  Key credentials: Specialization in Pediatrics, Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist Certification, Impact Concussion Management Certification

• Megan LaFontaine, Children's Specialized Hospital Occupational Therapist

  Supports children, young adults and their families in solving everyday problems and achieving the greatest level of independence and pride in daily living activities.   

  Key credentials: Participant in feeding team evaluations, intensive program developer and Certified Neuro-developmental Treatment (NDT) Therapist. NDT focuses on improving mobility and function, particularly for individuals with strokes, cerebral palsy, or head trauma. 

• Jessica Krill, Children's Specialized Hospital Family Faculty

  Supports families in navigating challenges through support, resources, guidance and compassion.

  Key credentials: President and founder Beach Days for All, a non-profit founded to create safe and accessible beach experiences for people with disabilities. Recipient of Special Congressional Recognition certificate.

Q&A sessions will be held at the end of the presentation and at the conclusion of the program.

Professional Development Certificates will be offered at the conclusion of this workshop.
