One of the main reasons that many Hispanics/Latinos do not begin their own family trees is doubt in finding information. Are resources available? If so, what is available? Is there a cost?
In this program, we will go over the following:
· Four Steps on How to Start Genealogy Research
· Types of Documents in Hispanic Genealogy and the information they can provide.
· Terms universally found in the documents that can help navigate the documents.
· Tips and Cautionary Tales
· FamilySearch and its Resources, and other free to little cost resources, such as Public Libraries and Genealogical Societies.
· Specific Resources for Spanish speaking Caribbean, Central and South America.
Biography of Presenter
Irisneri Alicea Flores is a Professional Genealogist with a Certificate in Genealogy Research from Boston University.
She discovered the empowering and healing nature of reclaiming her family history. Meeting her grandmother for the first time through documents inspired her to found, "Descubre Tu Historia," https://www.descubretuhistoria.com/ helping her community reconnect with their roots.
