In honor of Earth Day, Meghan Leavey from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection will give a presentation about climate change.
Across New Jersey, climate change impacts like sea-level rise, more frequent and severe flooding, and higher temperatures are affecting our communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure. While reducing greenhouse gas emissions remains important to lessen long-term climate consequences, we must also work to adapt our natural and built environments to the impacts we're already seeing and will continue to see in the coming decades.
Meghan Leavey, Lead Planner at the NJ Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Climate Resilience Planning, will discuss how climate change is being felt in the Garden State, how New Jersey state agencies are working to address these impacts, and how local-level action is one of the most important pathways we have for adapting to climate change.
