Water Safety and Autism - How to Prevent Drowning

Join Gary Weitzen, Executive Director of POAC Autism Services, as he leads an in-depth workshop to teach you how to reduce the risk of drowning for your child or student. Please register.

Drowning is the leading cause of death for children with autism, yet water safety is one of the most overlooked skills that we teach.  This workshop will help increase the safety of all children with autism.  Drowning is 100% preventable.  The program will cover:

  • Misconceptions and myths about drowning
  • Specific strategies to reduce the risks
  • Review of best practices water safety curricula, trainings, and educational materials, for parents, teachers, and aquatics professionals
  • Water survival skills

Access to resources for parents and educators is available, and Professional Development Certificates will be available.
