Monday, October 05
2:00pm - 3:00pm
What did Caesar and his fellow ancient Romans eat? This lecture will introduce you to the surprises and delights of ancient Roman cuisine and even supply you with recipes to try at home.
Julius Caesar never ate pasta or pizza. Indeed, some foods that we think of today as typically Italian were not eaten in Antiquity or had not yet made it to Italy. What, then, did Caesar and his fellow ancient Romans eat? This lecture will introduce you to the surprises and delights of ancient Roman cuisine and even supply you with recipes to try at home. This program is in celebration of Italian-American Heritage Month and presented by Dr. Serena Connolly; a Professor of Classics at Rutgers University.
