Darlene Cavalier, Professor of Practice at Arizona State University, author of The Field Guide to Citizen Science, National Geographic Explorer, and founder of SciStarter, will introduce citizen science, a growing movement that invites people to contribute to real scientific research through simple, meaningful activities.
From sharing observations of nature to exploring online data for animals, weather patterns, or other objects scientists are studying, this engaging program will highlight how small actions can make a real difference. You'll also learn how SciStarter, a free citizen science hub, can help you discover local and online projects, events, resources, and optional self-guided trainings. Opportunities during the event will allow you to try a sampling of projects firsthand.
