Sue Dupre, dressed as an 18th century dancing master, will teach a participatory lesson in how to dance simple country dances of Colonial America and the Revolutionary War era, with intriguing titles like Figuring on a Monday or Away to the Camp or The Hunting of the Fox. Sue will share tidbits of 18th Century history related to dancing and music. Live music will be provided by a fiddler and guitarist. No dancing experience is needed, and no partner is needed. In addition to country dances, the program will include a 3-hand reel and a cotillion (the 18th Century precursor to square dancing). This program is appropriate for adults as well as older children (12 and up). Sponsored by the Ocean County Library Foundation.
