Whistler, The Impressionists, and A Duct-Taped Banana

Professor Kate Ogden of Stockton University will talk about James McNeill Whistler and his French Impressionist colleagues. Presented by Pine Shores Art Association. Please register.

This slide talk begins with the American expatriate James McNeill Whistler and his French Impressionist colleagues, who were very much the avant-garde of their day. Whistler even sued a critic for disparaging his work. We will see how these painters have a distant descendant in the artist who recently duct-taped a banana to a wall and pronounced it "art." Light refreshments will be served from 6:30pm to 7pm.
