Each month, the Southern Ocean Birding Group brings in a speaker on the topics of birds in New Jersey.
Doors open at 6:30 for mingling.
This month's speaker is Barnegat Bay Watershed Ambassador Forrest Jennings
Come learn about what bugs live at the bottom of our streams! Join Barnegat Bay Watershed Ambassador, Forrest Jennings, as he explains what benthic macroinvertebrates are, how they can be used as bioindicators, how they are connected to birds through the food web, and 22 different types you can see in streams. You'll be able to find your own living macroinvertebrates in water samples collected from a local river and view them under a microscope! We will identify and tally the first 100 macroinvertebrates we collected, and then use the results to find out the health of the stream.
