Imma's past returns to haunt her when an old classmate is found murdered.               

A combination of mystery, comedy and travel, Imma Tataranni takes viewers on an armchair trip to Matera, the evocative Città dei Sassi (Stone City) in the Basilicata region, located in the istep of the Italian boot. The beautifully filmed drama follows the career and family life of its protagonist and intrepid investigator Imma Tataranni.

The charm of the series, loosely based on the books by Matera-native Mariolina Venezina, is Imma: 

a direct, take-charge woman whose mode of dress and communication style seem almost at war with provincial Matera and, at the same time, authentic to the place.
