Join in this virtual program to learn all about holiday customs on the home front during World War II. The presenter, Mary Rasa, will discuss rationing and blackouts, and how even Christmas decorations and food preparation ingredients were altered due to shortages. In addition, Rasa will discuss homeland defenses against its enemies and the development of radar on the beaches.
Mary Rasa is a native of New Jersey where she was museum curator/park ranger for the National Park Service at Sandy Hook. Mary currently runs her own business conducting historical research, writing exhibits, brochures, grants, and social media pages as well as conducting history talks for non-profits, libraries, senior centers and historic sites.
